GenCon 2025 Events and Afterhours

GenCon is an amazing weekend full of games and friends that you haven't met yet. However GenCon is not always just about the games. There are tons of interesting thing to do after the convention hall closes and your put your dice away for the day. This is a short list that includes some of the highlights of GenCon 2025.

The Stink - Wednesday July 30 5:00-8:00 PM

Wait you showed up early for GenCon? You need to meet some awesome people and play some games? Well then The Stink is for you. This is the 20th year of The Stink and its sure to be the best (I say that every year and I am usually right). There are tons of people to play games with and meet new folks also swag there is defiantly swag here. Union Station, Grand Hall


Sun King Beer Tapping - Wednesday July 30 5:00-10:00 PM

This years Beer will be released at the GenCon Block Party the night before the convention. Core Strategy an Apple Cyzer will be the beer this year. This is an apple forward ale that will have you feeling very quenched on a hot summer day at GenCon. Be one of the first to taste the official beer of Gencon. Block Party

Opening Ceremonies - Thursday July 31, 10:00 AM

This is the official kick off of the convention. I know most of you have already been here for a hot second but this is always a good show and it gets you away from that giant crowd waiting to get in the doors of the show floor that first day. If you are not in a hurry or don't like crowds this is for you. Ballroom 500


Film Festival Awards - Thursday July 31, 7:00 PM

There are 11 awards to give out including the Best Feature Film and Best Short Film. There is also the coveted Ovid award for best story named after the Roman Poet. This is not your student film festival (Although there is an award for best student film) These are very seriously produced films and worth checking out. They will have the films playing all weekend so check them out! Westin Capitol III


The Great Gooey Dungeon Game Show - Friday August 1, 9:00-11:00 AM

This game show will feature a huge Dwarven Forge dungeon and nerdy celebrities. This has become a very popular event at GenCon, It could be the thousands of dollars of prizes or it could be the awesome team from Goory Cube. Join in on the fun and maybe you will be a chosen one. Ballroom 500


Theatre of the Unaligned Q&A hosted by Dicecream Sandwich - Friday August 1, 3-5 PM

If you have not had the pleasure of watching Dicecream host a D&D session you are missing out on something fun. This will be a Q&A style session where Dicecream will show the newest episode of their anime show. JW Grand Ballroom 3-4


GenCon Costume Contest - Saturday August 2, 4:00-6:00 PM

Check out all the fantastic costumes that enthusiasts have brought to Indiana's premier costume contest. There are costumes from every facet of geek culture represented at this amazing event. If you have never been its worth checking out. Be sure to get a ticket ahead of time to have priority seating. Ballroom 500


GenCon Dance - Saturday August 2, 9:00PM-1 AM

We have all been sitting playing games all weekend now is the time to get out of your seat and get the blood flowing. There is a DJ playing all of the nerdy classics. There is also a cash bar. This it a great way to cap off the convention before you head back. Who knows you might run into a famous game designer while your there. Union Station, Grand Hall


DVNT Nights Cyber Punk Rave (18+) - Saturday August 2, 9:00PM-2:00AM

The GenCon dance to PG for you? Need more of a rave vibe? This dance isn't for the kids. Cosplay Deviants hosts a Cyber Punk Rave that's sure to thrill. 416 E Wabash St, Indianapolis, IN 46204 A free shuttle to and from the venue
